7th Bilateral Meeting between Ukraine and Egypt

As part of the 7th conference dedicated to Ukraine-Egypt economic and research & technology cooperation, a meeting between representatives of 11 large Ukrainian companies and Sahar Nasr, Investment and International Cooperation Minister of Egypt, was held. KIEP was invited to the session as a leading organization working in the energy sector of Ukraine. The institute was represented by its executives, namely Chairman of the Board Yuriy V. Malakhov and Head of International Department Martin J. Yegov.

KIEP received a note of thanks from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for contributing to the development of cooperation between the two countries. Additionally, the Ministry asked for the institute’s opinions as to the existing business activity of KIEP in Egypt’s energy market, prospects for the development of the countries’ cooperation in the power generation sector, and obstacles that stand in the way of this development.

The most important result of the conference has been a signed memorandum that establishes a collaboration between the three sea ports: Odessa Sea Port (Ukrainian), the Port of Alexandria (Egypt) and Damietta Port (Egypt). The official agreement will make it possible for the two countries to implement projects in the field of trade and cargo shipping.

Shortly after the conference, Dr. Sahar Nasr sent a letter to KIEP, where she thanked Chairman of the Board Yuriy V. Malakhov for taking part in the session. Also, with a view to enhancing cooperation in the energy field, Sahar Nasr has officially invited KIEP to participate in the Africa 2018 Forum that will be held on December 8-9 in Sharm El Sheikh.
