As a result of a tender for demercurization work held this autumn, KIEP was announced the winner on October 30. The tender procedure was organized by the chemical factory “Radical” with a view to solving the problem of dangerous mercuric wastes that have been accumulated in the territory of the factory.

According to the contract, KIEP takes on the responsibility of carrying out project operations to safely collect, move, store, process and bury the mercuric wastes in question. Also, the institute will develop and implement a range of measures to cleanse and restore (the so-called recultivation procedure) the industrial lands of “Radical”.

All the activities within the framework of the project are expected to be completed until December 31, 2018.
