Nuclear power plant operation inevitably entails the problem of processing and safekeeping of spent fuel. And KIEP is actively engaged in work intended to solve this problem. The Ukrainian projects ISF-1 and ISF-2 (interim storage facility) have been implemented with the institute’s direct participation.
