ADVISORY BOARD IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN ON EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCE AT KIEP IN ARRANGING AND CONDUCTING PUBLIC HEARINGS REGARDING NPP CONSTRUCTION
The nation wide power supply issues including the design and operation of nuclear, thermal and non-conventional power facilities are of great importance for each country. In this regard, many foreign energy companies maintain partnerships with JSC KIEP.
On March 7, 2020, at the initiative of the Uzbek side, there was a discussion of various aspects of public hearings regarding construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan considering both the country-wide and trans-border context, which was held in Tashkent involving JSC KIEP. The working meeting took place in the offices of JV LLC "UzLITI Engineering", which is one of the largest engineering companies in Uzbekistan that ensures implementation of competitive projects for oil and gas extraction and power industries.
The representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Cabinet of Ministers’ Hydrometeorological Service Center and the other executive bodies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the mentioned event. The JSC KIEP experts made reports on “Engineering and consulting in nuclear power engineering” and “JSC KIEP experience in conducting public hearings in terms of trans-border context for construction of Khmelnitsky NPP units No.3 and 4 held by SE NNEGC “Energoatom” involving the JSC KIEP experts in Ukraine as well as in Austria, Poland and Belarus”. The Uzbek side expressed gratitude for meaningful and useful reports, discussions and answers to numerous questions and emphasized the practicability of using the JSC KIEP experience in determining the legal framework of public hearings both in Uzbekistan and neighboring countries including arrangement and conduction of such hearings.
The JSC KIEP management constantly hosts events to extend international cooperation regarding the services related to engineering, implementation of projects, consulting, research and development for the power industry.
